FlexTrade’s Fixed Income EMS, FlexFI, Wins at The Bond Market Awards 2026
April 23, 2026 | By: Iain Smith
Overview
FlexTrade’s fixed income EMS, FlexFI, was recognized as “Most Effective System for Managing Orders in the Market” at The Desk’s Bond Market Awards 2026 in London, following rigorous assessment by an independent panel of buy‑side fixed income trading leaders.
The award success comes during a period of significant new and existing client growth over the past 12 months, as new asset managers and hedge funds have selected FlexFI as their fixed income execution management platform. At the same time, existing FlexTRADER EMS and FlexONE clients have expanded their deployments to include fixed income, enabling desks to manage execution across equities, FX, futures, options, and digital assets alongside fixed income from a single, centralized platform.
Integrated or Standalone Credit and Rates EMS Solutions
FlexTrade’s FlexFI can be deployed as a standalone Fixed Income solution, or via FlexTrade’s multi-asset EMS platform, FlexTRADER EMS, and its integrated OEMS solution, FlexONE.
The solution itself is venue- and dealer-agnostic, delivering a consolidated trading experience that efficiently enables buy-side bond desks to access liquidity across a fragmented market. Additional value is delivered through sophisticated automation tools that support low-touch trading in an ever-expanding market of trading protocols and venues.
In a rapidly evolving, increasingly electronic bond and rates trading environment, FlexFI is supported by a domain-specific R&D function. We continue to add liquidity sources, partner with leading data providers, and support all the latest protocols offered by our venue partners, ensuring the platform evolves in line with market structure and client needs.
Crucially, that development is also shaped by the trading community itself. Through FlexTrade’s Global Fixed Income Advisory Group, FlexFI clients come together in a bi-annual forum to discuss common enhancements and future product innovation within the solution.
Fixed income trading has reached an inflection point, where technology is now critical to success. Through our fixed income EMS, FlexFI, bond, and rates traders gain a single, consolidated view of the market. Combined with our fixed‑income smart order router, FISOR, desks can deploy sophisticated strategies to interact seamlessly with venues and protocols. We’re continuously evolving the platform to ensure our clients are best-positioned to handle the challenges they face now and in the future.”

Now in its 30th anniversary year, FlexTrade continues to deliver cutting‑edge trading technology to buy‑side and sell‑side institutions worldwide. Our innovation is driven by a combination of in‑house research and development and close collaboration with clients. As one of the few truly independent vendors in the market, our private ownership gives us the freedom to innovate on our own terms – unconflicted by parent‑company priorities or external ownership structures.
That independence has translated into tangible progress in product development over the past 12 months, with a strong focus on automation, liquidity access, and workflow efficiency across fixed-income markets.
Key New Functionality Highlights Include:
Innovative New Core Functionality: The delivery of innovative new tools, such as LiquidLookAlikes – designed to help fixed-income traders and portfolio managers efficiently identify more liquid substitute bonds when primary liquidity is scarce. The engine systematically scans the bond universe in real time, applying configurable similarity criteria and surfacing high‑quality alternatives that match a trader’s needs. This improves execution outcomes, reduces slippage, and enhances portfolio construction workflows.
Expanded interest rates trading capabilities, including:
– Integrations with bilateral UST dealers and multi-lateral streaming venues.
– Expanded asset class coverage into emerging European rates & repo venues.
